Hi,

Welcome to my page...

My name is Desiree Portier. I am many things, a mom, stepmom (the hardest thing i've ever done), fiance, daughter, sister and friend. I am a stay at home supermom (yes I said it), multitasking extrodanaire by day and business owner, workaholic (I can't help it I love what I do) by night.

My goal in life is to be a great mom, and wife. To always be myself and never let someone else change me.

In my spare time (this is rare)...

I chase my dog around the yard...

I enjoy shopping and girl time...

I love to work on cars (yes I really do work on cars) I am a gearhead at heart...

My favorite season is summer because I love ALL summer activites, especially swimming, wakeboarding, camping and tanning...

Did I mention that I've lost 50LBS this past year. Before I got pregnant I looked in the mirror and thought - wait for it - you are fat and unattractive - yes I said it! But once I had my daughter I was lucky enough to find a way to loose the baby weight plus some! Now I am paying it forward and have become an aerobics instructor!

I feel amazing mentally and physically...

I am not at my goal yet, but I'm on the RIGHT path...

Dr’s Orders

So the past few days I haven’t been feeling well. Everyone has been ill in the house. You know how it starts one kid gets sick then dad, then the other kids get sick, till finally mom is sick.

I’m not sure why I expected this cold and flu season to be any different. So I broke down and went into the Dr with my youngest daughter. I thought she would be the one with the ear infection. But to my suprise it was me! Oh no I can’t be sick. There is so much to do laundry, cooking, cleaning, and don’t forget I must get some work in during the day. And how am I suppose to follow my workout schedule?

So I asked the Dr if I could work out she said I was more likely to get dizzy and if I attempted to do it I should NOT push through it.

Hmmmm don’t push through it! That was the exact opposite of what I had been hearing from my “trainer”. He is always saying dig deeper, do more!

As I sit in bed reflecting on the day I realize that yes being committed and digging deeper is very important when trying to reach your goals, but there are times when you have to step back, listen to your body, and take a much needed break!

So unfortunantly I’m taking a much needed break and haven’t been working out. My mentor once said sometimes to DO MORE you must DO LESS!

Day 12 of my Insanity Journey and that completes week 2!!!!!! Wooohoooo


I don’t have time to be exhausted

It’s day 9 of my Insanity workout and as soon as I wake up I feel like I have absolutely no energy to get out of bed, let alone workout. I had been feeling a little “under the weather” this week but I just thought I was stressed, so I kept doing my workouts. Until today, I figured maybe the reason I didn’t have energy to do my workouts is because I wasn’t eating enough calories. But on this particular day I woke up dizzy, lethargic, grumpy, and in no condition to dig deeper. So after a couple hours of deep thought and continplation I decided to take a “personal” day from my workout. 

It took me hours to decide on this because when I decided to start this workout I made a commitment to dig deep regardless of what is going on. But I knew that due to stress (from personal things), lack of proper diet, and just all around exhaustion that pushing myself on this perticualar day wouldn’t benefit my body or my health. 

Let me tell you, I am so glad I did. Because I needed the rest, and the next day when I went to work out I was able to dig deeper, no problem. So Just remember when working out or even just in life, listen to your body, you know YOUR limits. Always try to do 80% because no one can do it 100% of the time (no one is perfect)!
